UCF’s New Advising Model aims to address critical problems with student advising

In the October 2023 report, certain issues with advising were listed including large student-to-advisor ratios, low pay for advisors and inconsistent quality of advising across the various colleges.

In addition, focus groups conducted as part of the report, found that many students viewed advisors as "barriers to academic success."

UCF Board of Trustees approves naming of 'Taylor A. Gerring Football Center’

On Thursday, the UCF Board of Trustees unanimously approved a motion to grant naming rights for the ‘Taylor A. Gerring Football Center’ after large donation.

According to UCF Today, the record $5.5 million donation from UCF alumnus Taylor A. Gerring will go to UCF Athletics and include funding for the construction of a ‘new football administration and coaches building.’

Pipe burst causes evacuation in UCF buildings Nike 104 and Nike 105

UCF dorm buildings Nike 104 and Nike 105 were temporarily evacuated due to flooding caused by a pipe burst Thursday morning.

Michelle Laxer, the communications manager for UCF Facilities Operations, said the flooding was caused as a result of a sprinkler inspection.

UCF allocates $3.5 million to new advising model

UCF announces $3.5 million allocation toward a new student advising model, "Academic Success Coaching," aimed to increase graduation rates in undergraduate degree programs.

Dr. Paul Dosal, senior vice president for Student Success, sent the announcement to students through email on Thursday.

In Janaury 2023, Damar Hamlin suffered a heart attack while playing football. In light of this Lake Braddock Secondary School Athletic Trainer, Kristyn Wharton began updating Emergency Action Plans in locations around the school.
